I have SYSTEM MECHANIC 7 and SPYSWEEPER. Good Combination. What are you using for anti-virus?
And a persistent irregular, erratic problem wherein the software—not sure what—results in my keyboard not accepting characters . . . or very slowly. Frustrating.
Have you tried another keyboard?
If it isn't the keyboard then most likely that its either the Power Supply is getting weak (5 years) or the motherboard maybe showing it's age. The power supply for your current system may be difficult to find unless you can find a business that builds and repair computers.
I don't know how the internals of your computer so I can't give you a definitive answer.

System Mech 7’s antivirus and firewall are what I use. Norton 360 caused too many problems.

I’m pretty sure it’s the mother board and not the power supply. The power supply is super hefty. Would probably run two very hefty computers. I’m skeptical there’s a problem with it.
I think the mother board has been buggy all along.
I don’t think it’s the logitech MX 3000 keyboard though I think logitech software has sometimes caused problems. The driver is the latest.
I do NOT think it is the physical keyboard. It is a software problem.
SOMETIMES, it helps slightly—ONLY SOMETIMES—to lift the keyboard far edge toward the verticle. But the antenna is about 3 feet away—should not be a problem.
A wierd thing has been occurring the last several months.
I’ll try to open SYS MECH and it won’t open UNTIL I use task manager to tell the system to restart. Then system mech will open and the system won’t restart. Crazy.
Maybe it needs deliverance prayers. Sheesh.
