Charges: Man Hunting Squirrels Shoots Bow Hunter

November 20, 2007

STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) ― A 20-year-old Minneapolis man is charged with a felony after he allegedly fired a shotgun at what he thought was a squirrel and hit another hunter.

Washington County prosecutors charged Neng Xiong with felony discharge of a firearm on Tuesday in the hunting accident that wounded a bow hunter in Bayport Wildlife Management Area on Oct. 25.

The criminal complaint alleges that Xiong was hunting squirrels with a 20-gauge shotgun loaded with birdshot when he accidentally shot the other hunter, who was kneeling on the ground.

Xiong told investigators he saw something gray moving in some leaves and fired. The other hunter was about 40 feet away when he was hit in the back. He got birdshot from his waist to his head.

The wounded hunter was able to speak with sheriff's deputies shortly after being shot.

However, I believe Chia Vang lived in Mpls. I’m thinking of the guy that shot and killed several people. There was another killing in the woods during hunting season in Wisc. that I think the Hmong guy killed another hunter with a knife.

Too bad these young Hmong men (say that 3 times fast!) didn’t learn something from their Dads that fought with us so well in the Vietnam highlands.

Is this the same state that had the Asian hunter kill a few other hunters a while back?

That "hunter" was from Minnesota and was hunting in Wisconsin when he shot seven local hunters.

Regards,
GtG

shot at something grey. And probably won’t serve a day for shooting another human being.

With birdshot. Remains to be seen what happens to this gentleman, but in all fairness hunting accidents happen - even to vice-presidents.

And Agents Compeon and Ramos are still in prison.

That's a travesty, I agree.

Is this what you were thinking of?

“MARINETTE, WIS. - A jury found a white former sawmill worker guilty Friday night in the shooting and stabbing death of a Hmong immigrant while they hunted squirrels in a wildlife area.”

Ahhhh, LOL, that is the first thing I thought when I read the title. I thought, “You really gotta watch out for those man-hunting squirrels.” It took a minute or so to get the gist of what really happened.

Chai Vang who murdered the six hunters was from St. Paul.

Cha Vang was murdered (stabbed) this past January.
