What are you talking about?? It’s a beautiful sports sedan marketed towards a younger demographic.

I loved my son's CTS. It had a fabulous ride. And that was a couple of years back.

Xanavi systems and COMAND systems are ranked the best by technophiles. If you are buying a HP car for its nav system, then you should have bought a MB.

As far as residual value, I suggest you look up KBB’s latest forecast stats on ‘08s. You won’t find American cars [except the Corvette] making the list and they haven’t for quite some time.

I’m glad you like your car. One should be happy with their purchase. Detroit has lagged too long behind the imports and once again, we see them playing catch up. All well and good for the die hard American consumer. I don’t know how many HP cars you’ve owned over your lifetime but you sure are naive. Good luck. Hope your electrical system holds up. Heh. ;-D

They can have their computer controlled, overpriced, you can't work on it POS. I'll stick with the simple, tried and true, my 69 VW

I drove one of those out at the Indianapolis Speedway a month ago. No, not on the track :((. Got an invite from Cadillac to a Callaway golf Clinic they were having. Got Lunch, a drive around the infield roads in a CTS, and 9 holes with some golf pros.

Hell of a promotion. Must of cost GM a bundle as they were having these at select locations around the country.

I thought the keyless operation was cool, the ride was nice although I didn't get to "kick it" (speed limits at the speedway, what's with that), interior appointments looked smooth and well fit. And was surprised to learn that GM was going back to rear wheel drive. The one I drove was a V6, but I hear they'll have a V8 version. For around 38K base, not too bad.

Of course, what I really wanted to drive was the two seat roadster, but at 100 grand, I don't think I'll be picking one up any time soon.

"And I believe there are many who agree with me."

Quite obviously, many do agree with you. They've sold a few of them...  and regardless of whether I would drive it,  always happy to see the American cars being successful in the marketplace.  It just looks to me like it can't decide if it's a sports car or a luxury coupe and the typical over they top 'white trash'  flashy trim (down to the fake gold key) of the Cadillac approach just is not my style.

I prefer something more understated and with overwhelming power... like the LS2 GTO/Holden :-) or something more retro like the SSR.

2005 GTO - LS2, 6 Speed, Magnaflow Exhaust, Lingenfelter Intake, Pedders Suspension

I’m obsessed with this car! And I’d rather be obsessed about this car than about ANYTHING going on in politics....

I do not consider Motor Trend as a credible source

Car and Driver Magazine is the most respected authority.

You give me five hundred dollars, I give you the negatives, and no one has to know you were naive, K? ;D

[BTW You’re the one shouting in all caps, eh? What did you expect, everyone to agree with your choice? Last I looked this still America with a unique and quaint custom and is referred to as free speech.]

I'm sorry you saw that post. After I reread it, the post appeared nastier than I had intended. I immediately asked for it to be deleted. You're fast!!!

We'll see about the car. I think GM knows they have to turn their reputation around and I'm hoping this is the car they're going to do it with. But again, time will tell. I hope my naivity works in my favor...friends?

No harm, no foul Hildy. And I meant it ... I wish you well with your new-hot-wheels. Be prepared for every Lexus, BMW, MB to take you on at every light! Have fun and be safe.

FWIW, the last American car I purchased was a top-o-the-line GM product. At the end of the driveway out of the dealership, I went to put the turn signal on and a plastic burr on the switch cut my finger. The car developed a window leak and after repeated times back to the dealer they were unable to find it [I’m not sure they even looked] ... I finally found it and fixed it with some chewing gum. That and a myriad other problems called the end for me with Detroit. Unless the US can meet and better German technology and craftsmanship, then I’ll remain disloyal.

And have a great Thanksgiving! ;-D

My wife is in the market for a car in this segment. When I suggested she check out the new CTS she just laughed at me and said “Are you kidding?”. This is the obstacle that GM must overcome with this car (and the new Malibu as well).

I'll try again but I'm not optimistic. She has her heart set on a Bimmer, even though they aren't reliability stars either. Actually the Infiniti G35 is tough competition in this segment.

If you’re talking about the Infiniti, I drive one and it’s very nice. If the new CTS was available last spring I would have probably gone that direction but the timing was wrong. If I can talk my wife into trying the Caddy I’ll let you know.
