Joan Kennedy’s battle with alcoholism has again landed her in treatment after a Friday night drinking binge, a heartbreaking setback that could spell more legal trouble for the ex-wife of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Herald has learned.
Kennedy allegedly became intoxicated at a weekend social event and was taken to a Boston hospital by her caretakers.
She is under a judge’s order to refrain from drinking alcohol, part of a deal struck with her children last year in Barnstable family court.
Her latest troubles occurred Friday night when her caretakers took her to a charity meeting in Boston, during which she apparently drank heavily and became highly inebriated, a source close to the Kennedy family told the Herald.

So concerned that a couple of years ago, they were blocking the sale of her house at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis.
Inferred: So concerned because there must be money or the house tied up in that judge's order for her to stop drinking.
If she was at a PRIVATE charity event and she drank... did one of her CONCERNED children drop a dime on her to the Herald???
Where were the caretakers that took her to the event? Did they watch her drink?

This poor lady is losing the battle with alcohol. It happens to so many Americans Kennedy or not.
I watched the movie “Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot” just last night on TV. Joan seemed like such a nice woman; the Swimmer was such a jerk.

Joan still is not over her fall from the elite life. It is a sad case but Joan has never moved pass being part of the Kennedy clan. How people can put their whole life value into such an empty life, I will never understand.
And it continues with their son Patrick “Ambien” Kennedy,
whose blood alcohol level must have been pretty high at
birth, given his parents.
Her children probably don’t want her turning up dead in a gutter, or wiping herself out financially by driving durnk and killing or maiming someone. If they were in a hurry to get their hands on her (rather limited) wealth, they could just buy her a case of whiskey and leave her at home alone with it. It would all be over in a couple of days.
Joan was a big-time alcoholic way before her “fall from the elite life”. In fact, it’s the main reason she is no longer married to Ted.
