A Rod called their bluff, last thing the Yanks needed was Cleveland or even worse, the Bo-Sox landing him..

As a Red Sox fan I say YES!!! The Curse of the A-Rod will continue in Yank-off land.

Wrong. They called his bluff and he came crawling back on his yellow belly once he figured out there was no one willing to pay him the money his agent told him was out there.

Didn’t you also recently suggest the Yankees bring back Torre, just before he signed with the Dodgers? The Yankees will still be short on pitching as I don’t think Pettit nor Rocket will return and they need a new saver. Hell, the Yankees need ten new pitchers.

He is a pathetic loser. He’s simply all about the money and if there was better cash somewhere else then he would have left.

They have three young guys to build a rotation around to go with a very good pitcher in Wong and an old vet in Mussina. They also have enough spare arms lying around that they can get by in a pinch. Their offense will get them wins when the pitching falters. I see them winning 95 games next year when it’s all said and done.

Not a pathetic loser, but a Yankee. He's one of the most talented players in the game. But I'll concede he has to increase his post-season productivity.

As for it's all about the money, Curt Flood should be blamed (he started all this free agency).

Actually they don’t. They have a solid core now of young arms and Pettite may be back if he doesn’t decide to retire.

A-Rod is so not a Yankee. Jeter, Williams, Posada, Rivera, Pettite are Yankees. A-Rod is nothing but a high priced call girl. He could have simply gotten an extension on his already overpriced contract but no, he has to opt out due to the uncertainty of the franchise.

BS. It was all about the cash, not being a leader on a team that has not fulfilled expectations.

His insecurity demands that he be the center of attention no matter what. (See WS game announcement of his intention to leave.)

Gawd, between this story and Barry Bonds' indictment, I'm so glad I have an ESPN Insider account because it will be very busy on the ESPN Radio shows tomorrow: Mike & Mike in the Morning, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, The Mike Tirico Show, and The Stephen A. Smith Show (unfortunately, SportsNation is currently not available on Fridays).

I’ve been a Yankees fan all my life. You have to go back 25 years to find a more weak collection of pitchers. Petit is not the guy you build on, it is Johann Santana. Cashman has sent a message to Santana’s agent that they will have the money to purchase him.
