I heard that the guy that has the radio show os ESPN Radio (last name is Heard) said that if Georgia did not have Hershel Walker in 1980 they would have been a 5-5 team. Locally the QB on that team (Buck Belue) has a radio show here and he said that was total bunk.

As I recall that season, Walker tended to choke in the big games. Look at his performance, for example, in the Sugar Bowl game. And I think Auburn, as well. (And no Georgia fan will ever forget the Belue pass that won the Florida game).

And the 5-5 comment doesn't even make sense - teams played 11 games, not 10, in the regular season in those days.
