When kids hear Santa Claus bellow, "Ho, ho, ho," is their first thought prostitution?

That concern has prompted an attempt to gag the traditional greeting, and many Santas are now fighting back.

According to the Sydney Daily Telegraph, Santas across Australia are rebelling against attempts to change their saying to a more politically correct, "ha, ha, ha."

It all started when the recruitment firm Westaff – which has offices both in the United States and Australia – told its Christmas trainees that the "ho, ho, ho" phrase could frighten children and possibly be derogatory to women.

Now, for a cold blast of reality. People engaging in that quaint folk ritual of drinking reindeer urine after the reindeer has consumed large quantities of amanita muscaria (an hallucinogenic mushroom that grows in the Arctic) frequently emit a distinct "ho, ho, ho" sound while under the influence.

BTW, this is the substance identified by the ancients as "soma". It seems that it is not destroyed or metabolised as it passes through the body to the kidneys, so it may be used repeatedly.

This reminds me of a movement here in Massachusetts to ban trick or treating on Halloween. That too supposedly conjures up images of prostitution because the "trick" could be interpreted as a desire to perform a sexual act for money and the "treat" could be interpreted as performing the same sex act for free.

Liberal do-gooders sure do think of prostitution a lot.

Yes, when reindeer get carried away snorfing up amanita muscaria (which are bright red with white dots ~ like Minimouse's dress and head scarf) (The Keppel in his name is about Mt. Keppel in Norway which is sacred to several tribes of Sa'ami), their noses might well look red!

Actually National Geographic made a film of some reindeer eating this mushroom ~ looks like their eyes are spinning too. Human beings who eat the mushroom (or drink the properly flavored urine) develop a perception of flying.

Again, the whole Santa Claus, his sleigh, his reindeer, his bag of gifts, climbing down the chimney (or through the smoke hole in the tent) ~ all that stuff is there in the ancient stories of the far North.

Just in the last three days, we have had suggestions from a city in Colorado to ban red and green lights. From Lowes we have "family trees" instead of Christmas trees and now from Australia we have Ho, Ho, Ho being equated to prostitution.
