Our pastor this morning, the father of a two-tour Marine, shared some thoughts on the subject. What came out loud and clear was a simple “Thanks” to a Vet. I told him after the service, “Thank You”. It took 23 years for me to hear those simple words. I broke down in tears at that time and realized that I was not the scum of the earth that Walter Cronkite, John Kerrey and Jane Fonda portrayed us to be.

Every Vet I see or member of the Armed Forces within eye-shot receives an honest “Thank you” from this old squid. I don’t want any of them to have to wait that long to hear, “Thank You”.
