I do seem to remember that one...even though I didn't see the film.
But I did like Bowie in "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence",
in which he was the central character in a WWII Pacific Theater
POW camp (run by the Japanese).
Not the best film made, but Bowie did well in it.
