Well when it hits $4 a gallon, I expect roving gangs of commuters armed with handguns and siphon hoses!
I often thought of designing a trike that has a hybrid drive system as a sort every man’s motorcycle of the future. I played with hybrid drives years ago, and a trike that pulls 100 mpg is complete doable with current components available over the counter. Make a great commuter vehicle, smaller then a car, easy to park, carry two, and would have freeway speeds up to 75 MPH. Course, with the sort of investors in this country, I would likely have to take the idea out of the country to find a backer.
