LOS ANGELES, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Production was halted on the U.S. cable show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" after The National Enquirer reported Duane Dog Chapman made racist slurs on tape.
Chapman reportedly has apologized and expressed concern he would be "put in the same category as" shock jock Don Imus, who lost his syndicated radio show after on-air racist remarks.
The Enquirer reported Wednesday it obtained tapes of two telephone conversations in which Chapman, who gained fame on the A&E reality show, unleashes a tirade of racist insults and repeatedly uses the N-word.
A&E issued a statement announcing production on the show has been suspended, TMZ.com reported.

Bad Dog!
Racists need to buy their own broadcast outlets.
"And now, a word from our sponsors... The American Lawn Jockey company offers a variety..."
Private conversation. He can say whatever he wants. But since he has to maintain an image........
The first time I saw the show I LMAO at their clothes and their hair. But the more I watched and found out about who he was, the more respect I had for him. I thought they were fake but they are very stand-up people.

Bad idea. I have no other reason to watch gAy&E besides this show.
That one day, seeing the rainbow colored A&E “gay awareness” symbol flashed over the screen almost made me want to barf.
Dumb Dog!
He might be a Racist, but not a bigot.
Classy.
That's right, but A&E can cancel him anytime they want too.
Only Dixie Chick fans seem to confuse the right to free speech with the right to have an audience.
leave the Dog alone man! who here has not at some point in their lives said something that might be considered racist? did everything stop so you could apologize? did you get fired from your job?
How did the media get the tapes? I thought it was a private conversations?
I have a hunch the son or the girlfriend leaked them.

Yeah, thats what I mean. Whether he likes it or not he has to pander and apologize or risk being cut off.
Its funny how people can talk about whites(most standup comics of color) and christians (Kathy griffin) and nothing happens. But say one disparaging word about gays or blacks and the networks go into instant damage control mode. Its funny how gAy&E will threaten to kill off their most successful show just because 1% of their viewers are “offended”
BWAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!
Man I can relate.
First time I began using the Internet, I subscribed to AOL due to one of their giveaway discs I'd received via snail-mail.
One fine morning in early 1999 I sat down & powered-up my box, lo' & behold on AOL's home page and in giant letters AOL proclaimed: "GARTH BROKKS ROCKS FOR GAY RIGHTS!!"
I sat there, dumbfounded.
Soon as I recovered I called AOHell to inform 'em we were finished following the current billing period.
Applying the obligatory conflict resolution shtick AOL's himbo-rep asks, Why after all the years (~8) you're leaving?"
Told 'em not to bother asking.
...read their morning home page.
Repeatedly using the "N-word" is not something that "might be considered racist."
I, for one, have never used it. And I have no problem condemning people (black and white) who do.
Dog has every right to be a racist, or to use racist language in his private life. But that doesn't mean that a corporation is then obligated to give him a platform. The previous Dixie Chicks example is spot-on.
How many times have we heard that something has been cancelled because ONE person was offended? Who the heck is that one person? Hundreds of people complain about a variety of things every day, but nothing is ever done about them. I am offended at least half a dozen times a day, but nobody cares (including me). But there seems to be ONE person out there who really matters! Who really has clout! How can I get to be best friends with that guy/gal?
Here is a good example of ONE person messing it up for everybody.

I guess you know by now that Dog's son, whom he supports, sold his father out!
I do, and quite sorry I was right, really ... That’s our world today, though.
