$49.94!
Suspecting crap, I went to the ultranerd AVS to see what they say. So far, they are decent comments considering the price. AVS Forum Owners Thread on Magnavox DP170MS8
??? They're pretty up-to-date on testing into 2007. Try this link:
http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-bin/shootout.cgi?function=search&articles=all
...which is the complete listing of the hundreds of players they have tested through the years from around 2000 through 2007.
It can be a little harder to find a specific player in this list (as opposed to the individual shootouts) because the players are ordered by their score, and not by name. In IE you can use the "find" function and type in a model number or manufacturer's name to find the ones you're looking for. Most people, though, tend to buy products with high scores, so they start at the top of the list and work their way down to the area of players that meet their budget.
I HDMI into the HDTV and audio out to the amplifier KLH speakers and sub woofer My audio is not up to optical.
and sample to the sub woofer.
No test for s53
And bottom...
Its an SVS PB12-NSD/2 and it will crush your skull. Can get deep down to 10hz at extension. Brutal. Love it!
Ok, sing along with me: "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas........" LOL!
Call me next week if you haven't been able to stop singing it to yourself.........
I'm glad you're happy. Really! I'm in the undertaker business, actually, which thrives under any and all systems, and, if you read our trade press, you'd see how happy we are to see the A types running to the stores to get the latest and the greatest. We believe and medical studies support us, that such rushes only speed up their happy trips to see us, or rather to be seen by us, since you at that point are quite unable to see, Blu Ray or Betamax. Happy heart seizures getting the Stuff!
They do play "regular" DVDs, and upconvert them to make them look better on today's HDTVs. However, they will not play the competing HD format-Blu-Ray.
If I bought one, it would be so that I could play HD DVDs. If all you want is for your regular DVDs to look better, you can get a good upconverting DVD player for under $100. However, do not get a HD DVD player, or Blu-Ray player, or upconverting player unless you have a HDTV with an HDMI interface.
In between updates, you can go to the PS3 store and download Folding@home for the PS3. Incredibly fast, it allows you to help in medical research when not playing games on the PS3.

The PS3 has been responsible for accelerating the F@H project to over a petaFLOP, becoming the first project to achieve that sustained output.
It’s really neat, and you can contribute to basic medical research that may save your life of a loved one.
Be sure to enter 36120 as your team number and use your FReeper name as your Name ID.
One PS3 by itself will have you in the Top 20 of FReeper folders.
what about the $350 lap tops that were talked about on national TV?....I’d like to know about those....
Also I would think with the Internet age, paying for porn would prove to be embarrassing to say the least.
Not a proponent of porn just giving you info on the subject by the way.
It's not even Christmas music, IMHO. Bah humbug. I want the return of real Christmas music - O Come all ye Faithful, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Angels We Have Heard on High, Silent Night, etc.
I’ve already done that. However I don’t run it much.
To all liberals, Wal Mart is evil. It's a union thing....
I had to call an rx in to Wal Mart today, and their doctor's line plays Christmas music while on hold....
Fox has been releasing quite a few titles lately. As have Disney. In fact they’re releasing Ratatoiee(sp?) and Cars soon. Disney is a HUGE supporter of Blu-ray and will not be switching anytime soon.
Fox will definitely not switch as HD DVD is a broken format and anything released on it will be on the net for trade in days.
HD DVD hasn’t outsold Blu-ray in almost a year now.
All blu-ray players can output directly in 1080p/24, 1080p/30i, and 1080p/30p.
Only the XA2 and the 3rd gen players have that native ability.
‘(deadline has passed - where are the players?)’
The first 1.1 stand-alone player is set for release before the end of the month. The PS3 will be able to do 1.1 and 2.0 functions. That’s some 80-90% of blu-ray players right there.
And Blu-ray has been around longer than HD DVD(AOD). Toshiba and MS came along and got the DVD forum to back their format over Sony’s. Sony still has more support from tech companies.
I was thinking the exact same thing.. The old KYYS 102 in KC is the station my clock radio alarm is set to... Imagine my surprise waking up to Christmas music.
