Three percent of the population is always grossly over-represented on the Amazing Race. But they give hotties priority seating too, so I let it slide.

Rachel and TK (the hippies), Nathan (one of the “normal dating couple” contestants), and Staella (one of the “best friends” contestants) ALL went to Fountain Valley High School together about 6-8 years ago.

Watch for alliances between these three teams.

TAR is my all time favorite show but you are right it is so formulaic. Same true with Survivor and The Apprentice and even Hell’s Kitchen.

My first thought was “Token Black couple” — Why not ten black teams consisting of all the required characters except they are all black. And then one say, American Indian team? Why not shake it up?

I noticed that several of the people are from either HB or FV, two towns that even for those of us who lived there, had a hard time knowing when you went from one and into the other.

It causes me to wonder if there is a conection between Huntington-Valley and someone within the program.

I really would like the selection process to be reviewed and made less blatently formulamatic.

Actually, this season is abbreviated. According to CBS.com, there will be no non-elimination episodes. They say they are doing this to renew interest. The show may win Emmys, but it never wins its timeslot.

And about half of the racers live in California. TAR needs to cast a wider net.
