We used to call it scrumping apples - only it looks as though they took pears too.
I did a lot of fruit stealing when I was a kid. Got chased a lot with rakes and hoes too. One time....ahem...it was a load of buckshot. :( Luckily it was shot up in the air. That old guy really loved me and my friends..and we reaallly loved him back!
