You may want to be careful with this one. Studies are out now that say your cholesterol should be about 130 to remain healthy. Taking it that low is only done by medication. Your natural body could never take it to 97 on its own. Just a word of caution here.

You’re referring to total cholesterol. This other poster is referring to LDL, or “bad cholesterol.” LDL is but a component of total cholesterol.
Total cholesterol is calculated as follows:
TChol = LDL + HDL + (Triglycerides/5)
Normal LDL level run from 65-130 or so, with optimal levels being below 100, particularly for diabetics. The initial poster is right where he or she is supposed to be.
