Hmmm, let me guess: you’re fond of handling poisonous snakes, drinking strychnine, and speaking in tongues?

Does it hurt you to be a bigoted anti-Christian ignoramus?

I speak in tongues. I’m a member of the Assemblies of God and a devout Christian. I believe that the gift of Baptism in the Holy Spirit is available for Christians today and that the Holy Spirit living in our lives gives us the strength and help to live a good Christian walk.

I also believe that the use of medicines and the use of knowledge about how our bodies work is a good use of our mind and lives.

I know that in addition to Luke calling himself a physician, Paul calls him a physician and Jesus says (Mark 2:17)”it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but the sinners”

When Jesus says this, it is in a typical parallel teaching method. Saying that like a doctor, he goes to those who need him most.

If the practice of medicine were sorcerey, I can’t imagine him saying this without repudiation of those who go to the doctor.

So just because this gentleman makes noises like he is a devout Christian, do not assume that he is representative of us.

The A/G official concerning medicine is available at http://ag.org/top/Beliefs/contempissues_13_medicine.cfm
