Governor Deval Patrick will throw his support behind Barack Obama in the Democratic presidential campaign, an endorsement that could give the Illinois senator a boost in the crucial New Hampshire primary and may help Obama blunt some of Senator Hillary Clinton's recent success in winning African-American support.
Administration officials confirmed that the governor called Obama yesterday to pledge his endorsement, and Patrick's volunteers began working out the details of a public rally in Boston Tuesday.
Patrick also called Clinton yesterday to break the news that he would endorse her opponent. Patrick has strong ties to the New York senator from serving as a Justice Department official during the Clinton administration. Both Bill and Hillary Clinton had lobbied Patrick for his endorsement.

"Why you backstabbing--I mean--oh. I'm sorry to hear that, Governor..."
Will he reconsider once he finds out Barack's a distant relative of Dick Cheney? :)
Patrick asked the senior senator from Mass. who he should
endorse:

Since I don’t follow the politics of the various Communist States, let me guess.
The governor is black? - I say that because to go against the clintons would take some real balls for a white man.
The governor is seen above in the pic with Obama. Yup...with his nerdish voice, etc., I have compared him to Steve
Urkel. With Patrick in office, it’s like Dukakis all over
again (he was the first Dem to be elected gov. since Mike
Dukakis won his last term in ‘86. Now the state is only
about 98 per cent Democrat office holders.)

Tomorrow, Deval Patrick will formally endorse Barack Obama for President.
Did anybody really expect anything different?
Gov. Deval Patrick tomorrow will formally endorse Barack Obama for president, giving the Illinois senator key support from the nations only black governor and a huge boost among influential Bay State campaign donors.
The move comes after months of quiet deliberation by Patrick, who has been torn between Obama and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, whose husband appointed Patrick to the top civil rights post in his administration in the 1990s.
I think this was the predictable choice. Obama’s campaign for president has been loaded with fluff and lacking of substance... basically, a larger scale version of Deval’s gubernatorial campaign. But does Obama really want to be compared to Deval Patrick now?
Let’s face it, Deval has been a disappointing governor. His first weeks and months were plagued by scandals and mishaps. He promised an end to “politics as usual” (the same way Obama is now) only to demonstrate he can be as crooked as an entrenched politician. Even the far left-wing that so enthusiastic backed his fluffed-up campaign have been scratching their heads.
Obama’s campaign has pretty come right out of Deval’s playbook. The more you put the two together, the more Democrats will see that the idealistic rhetoric Obama is echoing in 2007 is as meaningless as Deval’s back in 2006.
Is Oprah in Massville yet?
Al & Jesse?
Makes sense. Both cut their teeth with the same political machine in Chicago.
