Interpretations of the movie vary tremendously, with one of the more common interpretations of it being like the “second coming”, just as the world was on the brink of nuclear war. Klaatu even refers to “The Almighty”, implying that aliens, or at least he, believes in God.
Several other things are also suggested, for example, that the aliens were afraid that humans would shortly develop interstellar space travel, and that while they were indifferent to us killing each other, they were scared of us attacking them.
Having gone great lengths to create their robot “policemen”, and surrendering their sovereignty in exchange for no interplanetary war, they paradoxically also made their robots stop internal conflict. Now they care very much about our killing of each other. They also have no “defensive” policemen, to protect them from marauding Earthmen in spaceships.
Klaatu expresses that they do not wish to rule us, that we rule ourselves, but that our control does not extend to attacking other worlds or each other—or else our entire world will be destroyed. Agree to the rule of robots or be destroyed.
Inscrutable aliens. Like telling two small boys to stop fighting, in the name of non-violence, or you will have a big kid with an ax kill them and all their friends. When asked why, responding that you are afraid the small boys will fight you, an adult, who is surrounded by big kids with axes.

It’s based on a rural Cthulhu dialect.
Be honest. You’re wearing a Star Trek costume (Vulcan, if I’d have to guess) while posting this.
Now, I can tell you what language that is as I have been in the Mother Ship many times and learned to speak the Klaata language telepathically. If you will just wire a small fee (say 1 to 2 million USD) for the betterment of my black brothers and sisters to my Swiss bank account, I will share the secret with you.
No idea but this by far one of my most favorite early sci-fi movies. And the way the world reacted in the movie would be just the same if the situation were real.

Barada: Barada was a Klatooinian who served as chief mechanic for Jabba the Hutt's sail barge Khetanna. He was one of the most loyal and hardworking of Jabba's servants and his loyalty would last until his death at the battle at the Great Pit of Carkoon.
Klatooinian: Klatooinians were a humanoid species from the planet Klatooine, located in the Si'Klaata Cluster. For most of their history, they were closely associated with the Hutts, as criminal henchmen, soldiers, and slaves. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, however, some Klatooinians began to break away from their servitude.
Nikto: The Nikto are an alien race in the Star Wars universe. They were a humanoid species from the planet Kintan in the Si'Klaata Cluster. The species featured five distinct mutated sub-species due to a massive radiation from a nearby star M'dweshuu. The five sub-species inhabited different geographic areas of Kintan, developing unique adaptations to suit their environs. The varying appearance of the Nikto sub-species caused confusion amongst those who were unfamiliar with the Nikto.
