The original film is actually a globalistic or should I say one universal GOVERNMENT propaganda film!
If you dont play our way, Gort here will vaporize your azz!
A remake will only encourage globalists in their pursuit of a world government so the earth can join the League of Planets!
(Gort, o-gya uck-fay ourself-ya!)
Well, they’re remaking it so whatever it is, you’d better steel yourself to hear Keanu say it.
Mark
Hail to the King, Baby!
Michael Rennie was ill the day the earth stood still
But he told us where we stand...
Michael Rennie was ill
The day the earth stood still;
Still, he told us where we stand
And Flash Gordon was there
In silver underwear
Claude Raines was the invisible man.
Dang! Missed it by eight seconds!
Scotch
Too funny!
The robots were created with ultimate authority over their creators, to prevent them from destroying themselves.
This might explain why some modern-day democrats call each other "Gort" while giving a "high-five".
Interpretations of the movie vary tremendously, with one of the more common interpretations of it being like the “second coming”, just as the world was on the brink of nuclear war. Klaatu even refers to “The Almighty”, implying that aliens, or at least he, believes in God.
Several other things are also suggested, for example, that the aliens were afraid that humans would shortly develop interstellar space travel, and that while they were indifferent to us killing each other, they were scared of us attacking them.
Having gone great lengths to create their robot “policemen”, and surrendering their sovereignty in exchange for no interplanetary war, they paradoxically also made their robots stop internal conflict. Now they care very much about our killing of each other. They also have no “defensive” policemen, to protect them from marauding Earthmen in spaceships.
Klaatu expresses that they do not wish to rule us, that we rule ourselves, but that our control does not extend to attacking other worlds or each other—or else our entire world will be destroyed. Agree to the rule of robots or be destroyed.
Inscrutable aliens. Like telling two small boys to stop fighting, in the name of non-violence, or you will have a big kid with an ax kill them and all their friends. When asked why, responding that you are afraid the small boys will fight you, an adult, who is surrounded by big kids with axes.
Is that south of the former secret Syrian Nuclear Reactor site (recently visted by the Israelies)?
Yes, that would be the reactor formerly known as Zot.
Calling occupants of interplanetary craft...
Where have you been?
This speech by Klaatu could be the charter of the UN or any anti-2nd Amendment group:
“I am leaving soon, and you will forgive me if I speak bluntly. The universe grows smaller every day, and the threat of aggression by any group, anywhere, can no longer be tolerated. There must be security for all, or no one is secure.
“Now, this does not mean giving up any freedom, except the freedom to act irresponsibly. Your ancestors knew this when they made laws to govern themselves and hired policemen to enforce them. We, of the other planets, have long accepted this principle.
“We have an organization for the mutual protection of all planets and for the complete elimination of aggression. The test of any such higher authority is, of course, the police force that supports it. For our policemen, we created a race of robots. Their function is to patrol the planets in spaceships like this one and preserve the peace. In matters of aggression, we have given them absolute power over us.
“This power cannot be revoked. At the first sign of violence, they act automatically against the aggressor. The penalty for provoking their action is too terrible to risk. The result is, we live in peace, without arms or armies, secure in the knowledge that we are free from aggression and war. Free to pursue more... profitable enterprises. Now, we do not pretend to have achieved perfection, but we do have a system, and it works.
“I came here to give you these facts. It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet, but if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder. Your choice is simple: join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you.”
Would that be *the* “Ash from houseware”?
