Colorado now has won 7 straight playoff games, 8 if you count the play-in game against the Padres, and have lost only one game in the last month. They now await the winner of the Indians - Red Sox series, which the Indians lead 2 games to 1.

No name underdogs are doing well. Is this a sign of an unknown power coming on the scene to turn the 2008 elections, and this country, upside down (or in my mind right side up)?

Congratulations to the “Kid Rocks”! An awesome run. (And hurray for former Giant Yorvit Torrealba for that great three-run HR last night).

I’m loving this post-game ceremoney - Charles Monfort just said “Praise God!” and the GM O’Dowd just praised the men on the team for having good character.

How old fashioned is that? I love it.

Think the Indians will do it? My pick at the outset of the NLDS was an Rockies/Indians World Series.

Congrats!

Why? Brenly won one. I'm not sure Gwynn did...

Oh, because he just watched his old team get swept somewhat decisively. And yes, he has his ring, but I guess your heart never lets go of your teams.

By the way, I just found this:

“USA Today recently carried a story about how Rockies ownership is running the team according to a Christian-based value system and code of conduct.” from FR thread:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1651584/posts

So cool.

Chip Caray just characterized their post-game ceremony as “classy.” Good for them.

PS - Gwynn never got a ring as far as I know, but I could be wrong. How long was he a Pad?

The Rockies were my rooting interest, “once the Angels got knocked out” (and that was before they played one game). Will the Indians get to the WS? I don’t know...but I am rooting for the Indians...and if they make it (Cleveland, I mean), I’m torn...on the one hand, Cleveland had two world series appearances three years apart in the mid 90s, but didn’t close the deal. Meanwhile, Colorado has beaten everyone in front of them for the longest time. (21 of 22)

So I don’t know...I’m just enjoying the ride.

20 seasons, 1982 to 2001. I think his Padres went to two World Series', but lost both. (84 against the Tigers? and 98 against the Yankees)

One hot team.

Unbelievable. And very classy. My first memories of their home stadium, from listening to Jim Rome in my BR days (Before Rush), was Coors Canaveral (sp), where you could bunt for a home run.

Imagine if the Rockies win...Denver (Colorado) would have a title in every sport except for basketball, and all in the last ten years: Broncos, 97-98; Avalanche, 96 and 2001; Rockies (this year?)...and I might be wrong about the Nuggets, if you count the ABA...(I don't)

Congrats to the Rockies! They just keep on winning and I hope that continues through the Series. Going 11-0 in the postseason would be an unbreakable record.

Amazing how 9/10ths of the media focus is on the American League this postseason when, to me, the better story is in the National League. As soon as the Mets and Cubs folded, the national media just fell asleep on the N.L. It’s just too hard for them to learn all these new players when they can bleat instead about the Yankees.

His entire career which means he never won a Series because the Padres have never won a series. He was, however, there for both San Diego N.L. championships (1984, 1998).

Thanks!

I thought it was interesting, by the way, that after mouthing off about the Rockies, Eric Byrne made the final out on a checked swing and a bellyflop into first.
