MCarver just noted that Gagne seems to be stretching out his arm which indicates a shoulder issue. I know they had to shut him down for a while so perhaps he’s re-injured it?
Nasty change on Grady to end the game.
He should be pitching in games where nothing is really on the line. The pen rotation should be Delcarmen then Okijima then Papelbon. Timlin in the 6th if needed. Lopez and Gagne only when way ahead or way behind.
Sad what has happened to him. For a stretch of there was no one better.

I love that!Go Sox!
Go Patriots!
Sox win game one...off to a good start

He can’t throw strikes at will. That’s supposed to be the one thing a major league pitcher can do (even if it’s a meatball strike).

Hope the rest of the weekend is this good.

He’s certainly overthrowing but I think that there’s also something wrong with him. He was too good for too long to simply forget how to throw a strike. He should be Trevor Hoffman with a 90-91 fastball instead of trying to be what he used to be and that was dude with 98 heat who would blow you away one pitch then leave you hacking at a change that disappeared.

Oh, I realize that. With the Sox so far ahead, this game was perfect for GagMe to appear in the 9th.
He does that arm-stretching thing every time I've seen him pitch... I thought it was just his way of pitching or habit. I don't know for sure, though. I haven't followed him over the years.
Yeah, it's sad what has happened to Gagne... he seems too young to be "done" as a pitcher. I hope he addresses whatever physical issues he has during the off season, and rights himself.

Has anyone started threads for the NLCS games? I couldn't find any last night...
Did any of you catch last night's game with all the debris raining down on the field by the D-Back fans? Amazing. Sure made the D-Back fans look pretty classless...

I figured they could hit Sabathia. Carmona’s a whole other story though. He’s really come a long way.

Really? I didn't realize the Sox would be so good hitting Sabathia. Carmona
will be tough, though, from everything I've read and heard...
Glad we got Game One under our belts at least.
