And that's the issue, it did not clear the yellow foam part of the wall.

Of course it did. The ball was coming down as it hit the wall. If it hit had hit the face of the wall, it would have bounced downwards, and remained in play. But it bounced upwards, meaning it hit on the top of the wall.

There's no way a ball that hits the side of the wall bounces straight up in the air like that.

The ball was coming down and hit the yellow foam, the foam indented which is the proof that it did not clear the yellow foam. Foam = part of wall ergo it is not beyond the wall.

Yes, I agree. Does Francona do it, or does he keep helping the Indians?

Don’t. Punch and Judy are up and one can’t bunt and the other beats the ball to SS for a DP.

You sure your team isn’t still paying Crisp?

This is one of the weaker lineups the Sox have had in years. Pitching and defense carried them all year. They definitely need some more punch in the lineup.

Augh! Right *INTO* the double play. Drives me crazy.

Manny *was* robbed, but should've run until he knew.

Typical Red Sox... 7 hits, 2 runs in 4 innings.

My husband is muttering: "That's it... that's the season right there."

Damn Yellow line was too fat! L0L

actually the 90 degree angle of the wall is exactly where the ball hit. dead center. physics says it was in play

The laws of physics tell you it did not clear the fence.

The top of the fence is a home run. The ball bounced up in the air, not down towards the ground. It could not have possibly hit the side of the fence---the ball would have bounced in a completely different direction.

You're simply wrong, my friend. The umps all screwed the pooch.

So if a ball hits the foul pole it should not be a home run by your logic.

The determining factor is on top of the wall vs. off the wall. That ball hit the top of the wall which includes the top of the yellow line.

Crisp is gone this offseason. Ellsbury has his own issues as the plate swing at crap in the dirt but he’s going to be a huge upgrade over Crisp.

They have to pay Lowell 3 years, $36 million if they want to keep him.

Fire Magidan and get a good hitting coach in there. Maybe Drew and Blewgo will do better as a result.

The top of the fence is a home run. This happens on the Green Monster all the time. But go right ahead and side with McCarver and Buck if you want to side with two of the biggest retards calling pro sports today!
