They won in Lubbock in 1993.
So you're saying that it was so long ago that Vince Foster was still alive . . . . .
Now that was funny....
Not if you're Vince Foster....{{{shudder. shudder.}}}
SAVE COACH FRAN!!!
No, an Aggie.
>>A&M needs to win a few of these games before it’s considered a rivalry<<
First of all, having A&M as a rival is tech’s wet dream. Nobody else will admit to being your rival, so it has to be A&M in your minds. Second, A&M has a 34-30-1 all time record in this series, and considering tech has won (or in the case of 1995, had gifted to them) 9 of the last 12, A&M pretty much owned this series until recent years.
If I were you, I’d enjoy the success now because it won’t last.
Oh, but we ARE!!!
Domination? That’s pretty funny. And inaccurate.
In the last 12 games, of which tech won 9, the average score was 26 to 20 (obviously, tech with 26). Considering 1) tech had 2 blowouts over A&M and 2) A&M didn’t blow out tech at all, that can hardly be considered domination. What I mean by this is that with the blowouts (or lack thereof), the point spread should be a lot higher, but isn’t.
techs wins included a 4, 1, 2, 3, 3, and 7 point difference. All those games could have easily turned on one or two plays. I’m not saying the wins were illegitimate (except the ‘95 game; no one could seriously argue that game wasn’t stolen from A&M); I’m saying the games were close and tech hasn’t dominated anyone, much less A&M.
As I said, it isn’t going to last. But you’ll find that out soon enough.
Oh, and while we are here, explain one other thing: during that run of 9 of 12, tech’s high water win mark is 9 games (something a mediocre A&M team pulled off last year). Why don’t you concentrate on winning more games and the Big 12 South (something you haven’t done and probably won’t ever do) rather than putting all your energy into beating A&M? Honestly, if you could tell me we’d win every game we played every year except for the tech game, I’d probably take that deal right now. Delusional tech fans wouldn’t take a similar deal because they are so desperate for a rival or to be noticed.
Finally, tech isn’t and never will be a rival of A&M. Not a real rival, anyway. Conference foe, yes, rival, no. Baylor is way ahead of you due to history and the fact that A&M and Baylor have played in games that decided championships. tech hasn’t done that with anyone.
Well, you may be right about that, considering our 9 wins to your 3 wins (and game stats notthwithstanding, it's either the W or L that counts in the end)....But, what is a "real" rival, anyway? Even one of your players is saying Tech is not a "must win" game....but then another one "guaranteed" it. Is that a money-back guarantee, or what?
Keep up that no rival thing - we don't care about rivalry, we are just happy to beat you like a rented mule, again.
It was a Crabtabulous win.
And again, and again, and again, and again. . . . .
I have always suspected this.
Been away for a bit, but had to respond. I just love tech idiots crow about beating A&M, then go out and lose the next 2 (or more) games they should have won — wrecking their season. Exactly why tech is a wanna be and never will be.
Oh, well. At least you beat A&M. Is that what they are going to put on your headstone?
See above response.
Enjoy the win. As I said earlier, if you could guarantee that A&M will lose to tech every year, but that would be the only loss of the year, I’d take that in a second. It appears that tech idiots would take the A&M win with every other game being a loss.
Hit me back next year after the game at Kyle with a new A&M (and possibly new tech) coach.
Good luck with the new coach next year.
>>Then you get your big rivalry game with Texas, even though their big rival is Oklahoma.<<
Not to bring back up a dead thread, but I was looking at my stats I posted here for someone else on another forum. I see I missed this comment originally and need to correct it.
You can think what you want, and I’ll concede that many ‘sips try to say OU is their rival rather than A&M — as a slap to A&M, but it simply isn’t true. For one thing, look at the second line of “Texas Fight”, or as I refer to it, “Texas Bites.” I challenge you to find any reference to OU. Second, name one football coach t.u. has fired for not beating OU. Mackovic, Akers, and McDavid were all fired for losing to A&M consistently. Finally, OU’s surge this decade prompts this. In the ‘90s when A&M was on top and OU wasn’t, the feeling was different. These sorts of references are by college students and recent graduates who seem to think nothing happened before they were in school.
Actions speak louder than words.
Do you think Leach will bolt somewhere with all the job openings? At any rate, I look forward to basketball and baseball games against tech this year.
