NO candidate connects with the middle-of-the-road people-on-the-street like FRed does. Until the Republican voters face the reality of being ELECTABLE nationwide, we are split amongst certain-issue candidates.

My sense is that we need to put forth a Thompson/Hunter ticket, to have the STRONGEST challenge to the Hildabeast machine.

Those that will ONLY vote Democrat, no matter what, will not change their minds if Mother Theresa were the Republican candidate.

Look at the low-end of the food chain, and you'll find the Democrat voterbase. It's not rocket science; it's the entitlements crowd that wants the handouts from the socialists.

Actually, Mitt connects very well with that group of voters, not quite as well as Rudy, but well.

He was elected Governor of Massachusetts, which does indicate he can get crossover votes from those we don’t normally get support from.

Mitt is very personable, friendly, and is the kind of person the independent voters won’t be turned off by.

Fred may also be that way, but once we are talking about voters who aren’t issues-oriented, my personal opinion is that Mitt Romney looks and sounds more electable than Fred does. I wouldn’t choose based on that, but those middle-of-the-road people often do.

To the degree Fred convinces the hard-line conservatives that he’s their man, it will be harder for him to appeal to the middle-of-the-roaders.

I was looking forward to Fred because I thought he would be able to communicate the conservative cause in a way that would resonate with the voters, and maybe tonight I will see an example of that and feel more confident in him.
