ST. LOUIS — For nearly a year, two Missouri boys have been preparing to walk into a courtroom and face the man accused of kidnapping and abusing them. Now, an apparent surprise deal will spare them the ordeal.
Michael Devlin, the former pizzeria manager accused of kidnapping Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Ownby, will plead guilty next week to kidnapping and sexual abuse charges, a prosecutor and a relative of one of the boys said Friday. Devlin's surprise decision brings a sudden end to a massive criminal case that has drawn international attention.

they know they were wrong and rather not admit to it! I read what Devlin said and proved Shawn was a victim. He tried to kill Shawn and Shawn begged him not to and he promised him he wouldn’t tell and stay with him if he didn’t kill him. This was a desperate boy who wanted to do anything so the man who kidnapped him wouldn’t kill him. I can’t even begin to imagine the horror that experience was for Shawn.

I think the news gives us things that we really don’t need to know anyway.
Did you listen to the impact statement given by shawns parents yest? Broken bones that were forced to heal on their own. Broken ribs. A videotaped assault with screams, and humiliations that would make grown men cringe in disgust. There are no words to describe Devlin. He appeared to give no reaction as this was read. OReilly thinking that Shawn enjoyed his captivity is just plain sick also.
Oh my word No, I didn’t see it. I will look at the link. How awful. That poor child. I just cannot imagine the horror he suffered. He was broken down. No wonder he just gave up and accepted the circumstances he was in. How sad. Thank God he is now free and home with his parents and living the life he deserves to live.

I was in tears reading this. Now the idiots who questioned Shawn Hornbeck for not leaving his pyschological prison can know he was never at fault for this horrific and tragic event that took 4 years of his childhood life away.
Not only did Shawn fear for his life, he also must have experienced unimaginable shame. If I were 10 years old, I suppose I would do just about anything to keep my friends and parents from seeing those videos. A kid that age may well believe that it would be better for his parents to think he was dead.
