should felons have the right to carry guns legally? just answer that simple question and it will determine if we can talk further.

Not felons convicted of a violent act.

as a follow up, should convicted felons have the right to vote?

If they've paid their debt to society-yes. They pay taxes too. Do you believe in taxation without representation?

Pretty good answers.

I don’t know if it’s true any more, but at one time it was a felony to carry Mace (unlicensed) here in Kaliforneeya. But carrying an unlicensed handgun was a misdemeanor.

oooh, voting felons. get ready for president hillary!

really though, what i meant was that illegal guns as in guns in the hands of convicted felons. those are the guns committing most of the crime. guns that shoot people in the commission of a crime aren't bought at bob's gun store. they are bought from friends/family, traded for drugs, stolen, etc... so simply possessing them is a crime.

i support a short waiting period for handguns for a quick background check. but i do not care for restrictions on specific types of weapons. or, for that matter, restrictions on concealed carry permits for law-abiding citizens. interestingly, the cities with the strictest gun control laws also have the highest rate of gun crime. keeping guns out of decent citizens' hands is the wrong position.
