MIDDLEBURG, FL -- Two pit bulls killed their owner in Middleburg Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at a home on Cosmos Road, which is south east of County Road 218 and Hibiscus Avenue.
The victim is identified as 42-year-old Tina Marie Canterbury. The dogs turned on her when she took out the trash this morning.
Authorites say the dogs also bit the woman's grown son in his neck. He's been treated at the scene for his injuries.
A family friend rushed over and shot one of the dogs. Both dogs ran away.
Deputies trapped one of the dogs right away and killed it. The second dog ran loose in the neighborhood for at least an hour before deputies caught it and killed it.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office says two red bone pit bulls were involved.
Authorities say the dogs have never attacked people before.
Happened this morning.
You scour the net for these stories, don’t you? Why?
Dogs Of Peace ping.
Dog of Peace (DOP) Alert!
He'd been waking up every day stroking his pistol looking out the window at the dogs and saying to himself, "go ahead, make my day."
Misunderstood Dog of Peace ping.
Gotta go buy pop corn.
Why would taking out the garbage set these dogs off?
The solution seems so simple for bad dogs. Too bad they don't apply that same logic to humans who kill senselessly.
There are always some “interesting” responses to this type of story.
“Authorities say the dogs have never attacked people before”
Once was enough........
You would have to be inside their dog-brain to know. I don’t think it’s any reason that would make sense to the owner of a ordinary dog owner.
You don’t have to scour far. The CDC and the AVMA report lethal dog attacks by breed and Pits have worked hard to capture the #1 ranking which they have held for well over a decade thanks to increasing numbers. I live just outside a small town where the owner’s 3 YO girl was killed by the kindly family Pit.
Does anybody know the names of the dogs? I noticed the article did not mention names — they must have been juvenile Pits.
If memory serves me right, this is the first PB article I've posted. I've posted to other articles.
Truth be told, I'm sitting here bored at work in Jacksonville where it is raining like Noah's Flood outside. I clicked on FCN to see how long this weather is going to continue and the PB attack was the leading story. I figured it has been a couple of days since we last had PB attack thread so the forum was due.
Look, I've known one or two people who have very nice pit bulls, but let's be honest: Those dogs are retarded. Sure, I've been around docile pit bulls, but they were retarded docile pit bulls.
Why don't we continually read about a flurry of German Shepherd attacks, or evil Collie attacks? Those dogs have shown they're capable of killing, but it always seems to be that pit bulls are the ones that kill people in significant numbers.
Couldn't be a media conspiracy against the Dogs Of Peace, I don't think...
I apologize. I think I mistook you for someone else. I do recall encountering you on a these threads but you’re not the serial PB poster(not that there’s anything wrong with that).
I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.
At least the dog didn’t kill an innocent.
Just as an aside, some of Vick’s pits are said to be OK for adoption...
The scary thing about pit bulls is that they can, apparently, seem like great pets for years and then suddenly snap.
Guy at the corner has combination of pit bull and baby.
Bad combination.
but.....they never killed anyone before today!
My neighbor’s part pit bull went after my two youngest the other day. Luckily, I stepped in between and he turned tail. I had words with my neighbor and he kept saying aver and over, “he wouldn’t bite anyone, He plays with my grandchildren every day?’ I asked for his email and sent him two dozen accounts of pit bull dog owners who made variations of that same statement after their dogs killed or mauled a neighbor. I included pictures where available. To his credit, he got rid of the dog. At least I haven’t seen him in over a month.
Oh, there's plenty of people here who truly believe that there are hundreds of fatal dog attacks every year that are being suppressed by the media because the dogs aren't pit bulls.
So yeah, it must be a conspiracy!
