From Wiki....
1941-1942 NHL Season
Stanley Cup finals
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Detroit Red Wings
The Leafs’ comeback from a 3-0 series deficit to win the Stanley Cup marked the first time such a rally had been achieved in North American professional sports. Their feat has been equalled only twice: first by the New York Islanders in the 1975 NHL quarter-finals, and then by Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox in the 2004 American League Championship Series.

1986 Red Sox lose @ Mets Game 6
This doesn’t qualify for the list. Remember, it was Game 6, which TIED the series at 3.
The Red Sox could have still won the series.
All they had to do was win Game 7.
They didn’t. The Mets were the better team that year.

One more honorable mention — 1996 World Series. Defending champion Braves go up 2-0 on the road, then lose 4 straight to the Yankees (led by ex-Braves player & manager Joe Torre). Sigh. I still haven’t forgiven Bobby Cox for putting in Steve Avery to walk in the winning run...

The Muts, I mean Mets, have a long history of pulling defeat out of the jaws of Victory... Maybe I'll look around for my Keith Hernandez Mets jersey...
