They are trying to figure out why vitamin D has a healthful effect. They can talk about vitamin D because they no longer are allowed to sing the praises of the true source that not only promotes health, but makes all life on Earth possible - the Sun.

Studies have shown that people need the benefits of natural sunlight by day, and a good long rest in the dark at night. In other words, Mother Nature.

We have been frightened by the health police into slathering SPF 50 sunscreen all over ourselves. Never mind that for hundreds of thousands of years people never had sunscreen and probably spent much more time outdoors than many of us ever will. Personally, I do not believe it is healthy to always put sunscreen on, especially children. Should you put in on to avoid getting scorched? Of course. But I have read articles suggesting that it is very healthful to get sun light on the skin, particularly on the temples.

I think the earth police and the globull warming nuts have erroneously frightened people.

It’s very common for pediatricians to recommend giving Vitamin D supplements to breastfed babies. Because they assume mothers won’t get enough in their diet, and that big bad Sun is, well, bad for you.

When our doctor recommended it, we didn’t really know better and went out about bought the Poli-si-vol (sp?) he said to. We tried to give it to our daugther once. It was horrendous. And it smelled like burning flesh.

After a little research and determining she was not in a high risk category for rickets (don’t live in a northern latitude and is fair skinned), I decided it would be easier to just make sure she gets outside enough to get the benefits of the sun, while protecting her against possible sun damage. It’s not that hard to do.

Nothing like the tanning bed ;)

On the MSM, the reason why they don't talk about sunlight is they are old bags who sit in their stuffy NY offices and have no life outside of work.

Back on the tanning bed, since I started using one especially through the winter, I noticed my moods have been much better through the winter than before. I was down in New Zealand last January and it was easy adjusting going there but had a hell of a time adjusting coming back - going from long days back to short days for example.
