That's what I've heard.

Below:
An old cartoon of John DePetro riding a WHJJ bus (his former station); note Buddy Cianci in lower left corner (and Imus just above him). I guess DePetro was a bit of a muckraker with regards to Buddy and "PlunderDome". I don't know much about all that (am in Boston area) but one of these days I'll have to check out a book about it ("Prince of Providence", I think it's called).

DePetro calls himself "the Independent Man" after the statue on top of the R.I. State House.

Rush Limbaugh Joins

Talk Radio 920 WHJJ Lineup

(Providence, RI) - Talk Radio 920 WHJJ is proud to announce that “The Rush Limbaugh Show” will debut on the station on Monday September 17th. Known world-wide as talk radio’s most-listened-to personality, Limbaugh’s program is heard on nearly 600 radio stations nationwide.
“The Rush Limbaugh Show” will air live on 920 WHJJ, weekdays, noon to 3pm. Known as the media pundit who reshaped the political landscape with his entertaining and informative brand of conservatism, Limbaugh is also widely credited with resuscitating AM radio by many industry experts.

920 WHJJ Program Director Bill George says, “We are incredibly excited to have Rush’s show coming to
920 WHJJ. In sports, this would be like signing Michael Jordan or Babe Ruth. Rush is a proven ratings winner and one of the best-known media figures in the world. We’re delighted that he will be bringing his audience to WHJJ, and away from our competition.” George adds that the “one-two” punch of “The Rush Limbaugh Show” into “The Sean Hannity Show”(3pm—6pm) is a proven winner.

920 WHJJ is owned and operated by Clear Channel Communications in Providence in conjunction with sister stations WHJY-FM, WSNE-FM and WWBB-FM.
