You would have preferred a shot-out at the likes of Columbine and VT?
I’ll take my chances with a knife against a firearm any day.
Bully for you. I guess all those police and military personnel around the planet carry knives instead of guns.
It may make you feel better to pretend that you have free choice, but you are still a disarmed subject.
And a citizen with a concealed handgun could have stopped the two killings your cite. Those are perfect examples of what can happen where you have British-style disarmament.

I prefer guns to be in the hands of responsible people who respect them and know how to use them.

You would have preferred a shot-out at the likes of Columbine and VT? I would have preferred a shoot out at Columbine and VT, before the police "Set up a perimeter", or even afterwards, when the only people doing any shooting, or able to either, were the bad guys who were killing unarmed students and teachers. An armed teacher in either place could have stopped the killing. But there are *rules*, rules with only those not bent on killing people abide by.
