I've been watching college football for 40-odd years and that may have been the most enjoyable game of them all.
Now I’m hoping that my James Madison team can go into the People’s Republic of Chapel Hill tonight and knock off the Tarheels. I’m not optimistic—JMU is a good program and pre-season I-AA #8—but Butch Davis is a very good coach and almost certainly won’t let his crew overlook JMU. It’d be a great thing to see two ranked I-AA teams pull off upsets in the same day, though!
Heh. Connecticut 25, Duke 14, 10 minutes left in the fourth. The tradition of Duke football continues here in beautiful Nifongville!

I guess it’s not a good time to bring up the old SEC vs. Big Ten conference argument? Maybe Southern Conference vs. Big Ten?
An NC State team that finished 3-9 last year beat App St 23-10 in Raleigh last September.

I loved that game and I'm an Oklahoma fan! It was entertainment football all the way!
I never knew of Boise State previously and somehow we ended up watching the game. It turned out to be so interesting and exciting we even watched a tape of the game the next day.
I am happy as hell that Michigan lost but Appalachia shouldn’t start thinking that this wasn’t more than a bad day for Michigan. Go Hawks.
Best non-freak (i.e. Cal-Stanford 'band' game, or Colorado-Missouri '5th down' game) finish to a game since Yale-Harvard, 1968. Harvard scores 16 pts in last 42 seconds to tie 29-29. Pure pandemonium, a penalty (or two) on every play, coaches being restrained (both sides) from killing the nearest referee, AND played in that goofy bandbox Harvard calls a stadium. Indescribable.)
App started a different QB. He was a Sophmore who got a concussion in the 4th qtr. Entered the freshman who hasn’t lost a game yet. If that game was the 3rd game of the year instead of the 1st App would have won.
We find college games more exciting the NFL. Unfortunate that the schools have to bend to NCAA PC hysterics.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda!
You posted “the ACC refuses to play us”. I posted one team that did, and they beat you.
They're trying, though. Grrrrr! That's what was SO refreshing about Boise St., that wild (by 'football! standards today) offense,
And I told you since then we changed QB’s and have the nations longest winning streak. That includes the nations 2nd longest home winning streak and 2 national championships. We have 2 open dates on the schedule because we couldn’t get the “ACC” to play us. We tried to get NC State on the schedule again but they wouldn’t bite. NC wouldn’t bite. Clemson wouldn’t bite. The “ACC” knew a day like today would happen and they didn’t want to be on the other end. If the “ACC” wants some they can come and get it.
Looks like we’ll be seeing you guys in Chattanooga again this year. We went to the game last year and it was a lot of fun.
Yet another blow to the Big Ten. Ohio State got crushed by Florida last year, Michigan took a beating in the Rose Bowl, and now they become the first ranked team to put up an L to a D-1AA team.
All of which is cool with me, because I hate the Big Ten.
Folks need to realize that Appy State is for real. They have an excellent chance of winning the national Championship this year in their division.
After today, it really would not surprise me to see the Mountaineers do the threepeat. Folks today saw that their top offensive talent is just about the equal of anybody in I-A right now. Dexter Jackson only had three catches for 92 yards, but two were touchdowns, and that 68-yarder was a thing of beauty. The boys from Boone are for real. I’m not sure I-AA or whatever they’re calling it this week has seen a dynasty like them since Georgia Southern dominated a while back.
Sadly, my JMU Dukes are getting pasted at North Carolina right now. Would’ve been nice to see a second I-AA upset today, but oh well!

I agree. Excellent coaching and more than 100% effort by the whole team. Also, the quarterback impressed me. As SAJ pointed out, they were creative. Much more interesting than the NFL games. Too bad I did not get to see the App. State game.
Michigan hasn’t been the same since Bo died.
If I were an OSU fan I'd be hoping Carr would stick around forever...
