No. 5 Michigan stunned by I-AA App. State Associated Press, Updated 2 minutes ago STORY TOOLS: print send blog LIKE THIS STORY? ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - What was supposed to be a tuneup turned into a stunner: Appalachian State 34, No. 5 Michigan 32. Julian Rauch's 24-yard field goal with 26 seconds put Appalachian State ahead of Michigan and Corey Lynch's blocked field goal in the final seconds sealed one of college football's biggest upsets. The two-time defending champions from college football's former Division I-AA were ahead of the nation's winningest program 28-14 late in the second quarter, then their storybook afternoon seemed to unravel late in the fourth quarter. Mike Hart's 54-yard run put the Wolverines ahead - for the first time since early in the second quarter - with 4:46 left. One snap after the go-ahead touchdown, Brandent Englemon intercepted an errant pass, but the Wolverines couldn't capitalize and had their first of two field goals blocked. advertisement STORY TOOLS: print send blog LIKE THIS STORY? Appalachian State drove 69 yards without a timeout to set up the go-ahead kick, but it still wasn't over. Chad Henne threw a 46-yard pass to Mario Manningham, giving Michigan the ball at Appalachian State's 20 with 6 seconds left. Lynch blocked the kick and returned it to the other end of the field as the final seconds ticked off, and his teammates rushed across the field to pile on Lynch as the coaching staff and cheerleaders jumped with joy.

$400,000
and cost Michigan $10-12 million. No BCS. WHOOOOOOOOOO!!!
WOW BIg time win for your school.
Someone should really start a weekly thread on FR that deals with all the college football games played during that particular week.
I’m in Michigan. I looked up and saw a guy running as fast as I’ve ever seen. Dexter is fast. Great player!
Stunning victory.
Big time loss for the Big Ten.
Maybe Mike Lantry can console the UM kicker. Just kidding.
Well they can get the BCS if they win the Big Ten.
Go Southern Conference!!!
Congrats to APP. ST!
Let the party begin in Boone!

Looks like the next game is against Lenoir-Rhyne. If they beat App. State, they can claim they deserve a BCS spot.
Lloyd Carr will get early retirement for that loss. (This Buckeye fan is shedding no tears.)
Reminds me of last season's most exciting game - the win by Boise State after complaints that it should not have received a bowl bid.
Ditto for this Boilermaker.
Now App State needs to run the table!
Nice going.
Michigan is so overrated virtually every year, this has to be fun for everyone. Its like, what do they have to do to NOT be ranked in the top 5? I’d bet if they disbanded the football program, they’d still get AP votes.
True story - when I was a young paratrooper, we were pretty used to winning.
Until we got our asses handed to us by a bunch of reservists in Appalachia.
Big party tonight in Boone!
The ACC refuses to play us. They knew we had what it takes to beat a big time school. They didn’t want to be the that school.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Hugh Hewitt spent all three hours of his Tuesday show on this.
We’re Craig’d out. This is a good story.
