I do think they look for the whackiest people they can find thinking it makes the show more interesting. Of course we MUST have the token old guy and gay guys as well. :)
So if we count Louisiana and Virginia as in the S/E and Vegas as West Coast we get -

Mid West...4 players
Lot better than last time.
And I hate to say it but token two African Americans, too. This formula got so old so fast. Why not mix it up? Why not truly choose contestants by their resumes or such. So what if we ended up with 11 black people and 1 Hispanic. So what. For some reason that would make me want to watch it more.
