Do you invest in stocks? Mutual funds? 401K?
I’m curious. So many who would put $10,000 into a speculative stock are scared to death of a variable rate mortgage...when the former is a LOT risker than the latter.
Our retirement savings and the kids' college savings are the only two areas of personal finance of which my husband has control--I look after the paperwork, that's about it. We have a traditional IRA which seems to be a slow-growth way to go--each month, the account is a tiny bit beefier. Same with the college fund. Since we're a long way from retirement, and since I will probably be returning to the workforce this fall, I don't mind slow, steady investment growth.
I'm not scared silly about ARMs--like I've said, I have an ARM on my primary mortgage, and I am satisfied with it. I did my research before signing, though. I don't see that as caving in to fright, I think of it as responsible investing.
