Can't understand why the bank wanted to loan money out for such a bad investment unless they thought the 2 acres that the house (that really needed to be condemned) sat on was worth the risk - or they may have planned to sell the mortgage to some other investment institution.
Either way they had no qualms about destroying a young man's future.

It does seem odd. However, I’d have to see the whole deal to see what was up. Did they in fact know about the mold and issues? Were they just releasing all the cash, or were they requiring proof it was actually being used to repair the property?
