You don’t get medals working on the flightline or flying aircraft. You get them sitting in a cushy air conditioned office as an office weenie where it’s considered an entitlement of sorts.

You also did't get medals for doing stuff in places you're not supposed to be. I think I had to sign a form to that effect.

On the bright side, it was more fun than you can imagine - in a Strangelovian sort of way.
