Tried to post in news but it got moved to chat - sigh. There were two previous threads on this but it was not an official tropical depression yet; now it is.
I’ve sensed a great deal of hostility from some to all tropical-related (or in some cases just plain weather.) things - guess from people not on the Atlantic or Gulf coasts, or that perceive every MENTION of anything tropical as “global warming hype.”
I’m just wondering at what point an official system (which many people spend time discussing here) gets to escape from “chat” to “news” (much less “breaking.”)
Impressive
Just the stuff that comes from NOAA :)
Some of us see the 4th Tropical Depression as a good excuse to check over our disaster plans, rotate food supplies, test back up electric systems and take a good look at the home exterior (for me that means getting the pine straw out of the rain gutters).
If an ice storm, tornado or hurricane knocks out power in my area and shuts things down our house will still be up and running - unless a tornado scores a direct hit.
Many who follow the threads about potential weather disasters will make out like me. Are you with us?
ABBCNNBCBS is SO eager to verify AGW through another massive hurricane season, that every day of no storms merely heightens their fear and rhetoric: even though the NWS degrades the expected number each no hurricanes come up.
So, now that an actual depression is actually out there - and this the still the first 1/2 of the season with no named storms - everybody can get excused for reacting.
Or accused of over-reacting fer that matter.
