I thought that MS bought Novell?

Oh boy let me guess..”Yes they bought Novell, but at the time that Linux was developed Novell made it freely available..”

Um, MS has never bought Novell.

They did a cross-licensing deal this year, but MS hasn’t bought Novell. Where did you get that idea?

My mistake Spktyr, I remembered the MS/Novell deal, and with MS’s nature I just assumed that they had acquired Novell.

“I thought that MS bought Novell?”

It’s amazing how much FUD that MS has spread over the years concerning Novell.

No, and Novell has $1.5 billion in CASH IN THE BANK too. They aren’t going broke, and in a few hours, their stock will no doubt shoot up in value.

These guys put out good books on Linux...:

No Starch Press

And from Amazon:

Land of Linux

Now what is the best?....one that matches your level and the Distro you are going to work with....Fedora would be closely related to Red Hat so that would seem to be a natural choice.....

Sams has Fedora Unleased for Level 7 coming soon:

Coming Soon: Fedora 7 Unleashed

Not so much with the FUD, I am switching to Knoppix after years of decent service from Win98.

Are you needing a programming for Linux, Unix manual....I think would be something else....

With the help of Google turned this up:

Professional Linux Programming

I was never an every day programmer,...but did do some heavy benchmarking with MVS and VM 360/370 systems....

I think the Knoppix developers are redoing things under a new banner known as Sidux....

MVS... I recently had to convert a file transfer client for legacy systems to support the MVS hierarchy... UGH!

BTW this SCO slapdown is great news for business and consumers. I'm quite pleased.
