The article said the victims left messages to each other. I presume they wanted to leave clues for cops since they apparently were standing next to one another.

I saw the press conference with the mayor of Newark on Fox News.
One of the reporters asked the mayor if Jose Carranza was a legal resident of the USA....
The mayor refused to answer!
However, the mayor did confirm that the 15 year old is a legal resident of the USA.

I now hear from two of my East Coast pals (both die-hard 'Blue state' liberals who don't know one another, by the way) that this crime combined with the murders in Vermont has got everyone they know in New England talking about crime, punishment, recidivism, parole standards, illegal immigration, and getting a gun for home defense -- the last topic even in localities where it's next to impossible to get a license to buy a gun.
I told one of them what my state's 'castle doctrine' and CCW attitudes are, and he just can't conceive of the notion. It's an alien concept to him.
Republicans would be damn fools not to move these issues to the top of the Election 2008 platform. Desperate people do strange things in the voting booth when no-one's looking.
