I agree...but I still wonder how much “pain” the horse is really in, and how much is just stubbornness.

I don’t know... but if the horse hasn’t been trimmed all summer, part of that ‘stubbornness’ and laziness the poster reports could also be lameness and she just doesn’t know enough to know it. She’s been riding this horse all over who “hasn’t had a trim all summer”. Who knows what the horse’s feet look like, or the rest of her animal husbandry, for that matter.

I think it is a stupid rider issue. Horse is probably fine.
