Good morning... I can’t imagine it gets dreary for long down there... not like up here...
But I’ll take dreary over stormy and windy any day!
It’s going to be a lovely day here today... clear and cold. A nice break before dreary sets in again for the weekend. :~)
Sure is quiet here today. Everybody must be out shopping, something I’m fixing to do myself.
It doesn’t stay dreary here for long but every now and then we’ll get 5 days straight of crappy weather. It’s almost more than I can take. My oldest daughter lives at college about 3 hours south of the DFW metroplex and the weather is even milder there. She loves it.
Speaking of stormy and windy (good names for horses) I always look forward to spring for that very reason. I love storms.
5 days in a row is nothing :~)
But you’re right, it has been quiet... I know those of us up in dreary land are just not doing much that is horse related, unless cleaning up after them counts... I can get some pictures of that later, if you like :~)
5 days in a row and I’m suicidal. I’d never make it up there. I really do have a problem getting depressed when the sun is hidden for days. That’s the good thing about spring, the storms come and go quickly.
I haven’t been doing anything horse related, either. 3 of my five kids are down with the flu, I’ve been doing major christmas shopping, my vacuum cleaner broke and I’ve been trying to find another one that will hold up, my husband has been gone alot because his dad had a triple bypass (he’s fine and and back home). It’s just been one thing after the other. Oh, my pool vacuum wasn’t working either so I pulled it up out of the pool to see if I could fix it. I promptly dropped it and broke a wheel off. So I had to take that in to the pool store and get it fixed. Luckily, they only charged me $20. cheapest I’ve ever gotten out of the pool store.
I’d love to see some pics of horses being cleaned up after. Maybe it will put me in the mood to do the same...
Yeah, last year when y’all had 20-something straight days of rain I was thinking that I’d be slitting my wrists by then.
I’ll be taking some pics tomorrow when I deliver Miss Ellie to her new home in Chattanooga. The girl’s really excited about getting her and I think she’s going to be very good to her. The only thing that I kinda don’t like is that she plans to keep her stalled during the day. I know a lot of people who do that during the summer, especially ones who have black horses, so they won’t get sun-bleached. But Ellie’s always been an outside horse so I don’t know how well she’ll take to it. But she won’t be my horse at that point so I really don’t have any right to say anything. It could be worse. She could just put her out in a pasture with no shelter at all. So better too much pampering than not enough I guess.
I guess so... is bleaching an issue with roans?
Well, not any more than any other dark colored horse. Her base coat is black so if she was kept up her mane and tail wouldn’t be so red and she wouldn’t have that reddish cast to the rest of her either.
Well, you asked for it! Here's the 'after'. ;~)
And out in the lean-to.... Last load still needing to be dumped. Ugh RE the suck mud I had to slog through to get out to the back forty to dump it. The graveling we did on the other entry has worked so well I'd love to dig out that entry and do the same thing.
They look so cozy and warm in there.
Too cozy... I can’t get them to leave! Good thing is, they don’t mess inside too bad... but when it’s crummy out, they use the lean-to and the pony’s stall as a toilet :~\
Doh! I totally spelled cheeseburger with a z. (blushes)
Good morning everyone. Working on flooring again today. Living room now, kitchen and dining room done. “How I spent my Christmas vacation” :) Oh well, I do really like what is done and will appreciate all the hard work when we are finished.
That is funny also, you should enter it.
LOL.....great! I voted.
Heh. Many thanks. :-) We’ll see what happens.
