Bill O'Reilly Slams Freerepublic

Posted on 07/29/2007 3:49:13 PM PDT by WyCoKsRepublican

I recently tuned in to the Radio Factor to hear Bill O'Reilly saying that he was hated by Freerepublic and that it was an extreme right wing blog. First of all, Mr. O'Reilly is not hated. I have a lot of respect for the man, his honesty, integrity and point of view. What I don't like, as do many Freepers, is that when he is on target on some key issues, he is way off target on others. He needs to realize that we even disagree amongst ourselves quite often. I get my daily dose of talk radio, Rush, Dr. Savage, Boortz, Levin and O'Reilly. Why does he always have to thrash a conservative i.e. Ann Coulter in the same breath when he's zapping a liberal? Let's just say that when some of us disagree with him, he needs to be "de-spun" on occasion. It's called "tough love" Mr. O'Reilly. The Great Oz has spoken.

Bill O'Reilly is a friend of Al Charlatan.

Bill O'Reilly said the Swift Boat Veterans had no right to be heard.

Bill O'Reilly said he does not have known liars on his show yet he had John Kerry and has tried his hardest to get Hillary.

Bill O'Reilly endorsed the kennedy/bush amnesty for illegals scheme.

Bill O'Reilly is a schmuck.

“O’Reilly is a professional popinjay.”

LOL..I had to look it up.

POPINJAY;

A vain or conceited person, one given to pretentious displays.

A good example can be found in Joseph Conrad’s short story The End of the Tether of 1902: “When he looked around in the club he saw only a lot of conceited popinjays too selfish to think of making a good woman happy”.

Dictionaries say a popinjay was also at one time the usual name for a parrot, and in that lies the origin of the derogatory term. What could be more gaudily and squawkingly in your face than a parrot? What more perfect term for an empty chatterer, fop or coxcomb? Who’s a pretty boy, then?

It’s an ancient imprecation, already of some age when Shakespeare used it in Henry IV, but the literal parrot sense goes back even further, to the latter part of the fourteenth century. It was also used for a device on a post to shoot at, the archers’ equivalent of the quintain, usually it seems because the mark was a figure of a parrot. That explains references such as this one, in Old Mortality, by Sir Walter Scott: “When the musters had been made, and duly reported, the young men, as was usual, were to mix in various sports, of which the chief was to shoot at the popinjay, an ancient game formerly practised with archery, but at this period with fire-arms”.

Bill O’Reilly is out of control. While I find his stuff interesting sometimes, I also find him a bit extreme and obnoxious sometimes.

Bill is just ticked because FR slammed him on this thread for becoming a full blown defeatist. (4100+ views and over 200 relpies).

“I stopped listening to O’Reilly when he once attacked Jesse Helms for no reason other than to show liberals that he would also attack people “on the right”. I knew there was no “there there” after that.”

oh sure...his paycheck depends on him being constantly outraged at someone or at something.
Hannity too.

Being outraged for a living would be exhausting and would quickly turn anyone into a crank.

The sad thing is that these people probably think their importance in peoples’ lives is much greater than it really is.

If they weren’t blatting in front of a camera or in front of a microphone everyday, the world would still spin just the same.

What exactly did you hear Bill O’Reilly say? If you can give me that date that you heard his show, I can listen to it and post what was said. BUT, I heard him say just a day or two ago that he did not even know about FR. He then went to the FR site and said that it was not a “hate” sight like the Kos. I will post word by word what he said, if you’d like. I just want to be accurate here that’s all. I THINK YOU MAY BE WRONG. He said he was hated by the Kos people. He didn’t even know about FR when he said that. I think you thought he was speaking of FR when he was actually speaking of the Kos. Thanks! Let me know if you want me to post EXACTLY what he said.

It isn’t called “tough love” by me.

I call it “his elitist perspective has destroyed his ability to understand that my opinion is just as important as his opinion.”

Something about O’Reilly rubs me the wrong way. He is conservative on a few issues but real liberal on some key ones such as gun control.

As someone else said, I think he purposely attacks conservatives just to show how fair and balanced he is. The fact that he constatnly makes pronounements as if they came down from Mt. Sinai is part of what gets to me.

Funny that liberals hate him as he is basically one of them except on some issues which apparently trip their wire such as PBS and liberal jusges.

My only reason for tuning in anymore is to listen to what his guests have to say. Granted, they don’t get to say much before O’Reilly butts in and takes over. I notice he has given deference to guests with the right credentials.

“I think they mean Tony Snow, who as I understand it used to post here. I think he disappeared around the time he left for the White House. Those 18 hr days are probably cutting into his freeping”

Poor Tony.
Between his job and his illness he must be exhausted.
What a trooper.

I was shocked a few nights ago when he actually turned the audio off on one of the guests after calling her an outright liar and left the footage of her trying to speak on for a few seconds without sound. True the woman was a liberal commentator trying to defend Daily Khaos but that was a little rude for my taste.

This is amazing. Why just the other day on the radio, when he was talking about the Daily Kos being a hate enterprise, he had a woman come on and ask why he didn't attack FR for being a hate site. He said he didn't know anything about FR and within minutes he said there was nothing that indicated FR was a hate site.
Now this?
