No one with legal training could fail to see the problem with McCain-Fiengold. It restricts political speech. It is a big black mark to have voted for it or signed it. Something was felt to be more important than free speech and the Constitution when the vote was made. Does anyone know what F. Thompson thought was more important?
Globalization? The NAU?
You’re living in dreamland where perception diverges from reality.
When you have incredibly large money and political influence and you control the media, or the portion of the media that matters, then the idea of ‘FREE SPEECH’ lies somewhere between those that believe in Santa Claus and those that care only about their Sunday Pinochle game.
Fred Thompson aimed to break the corruption in DC. He aimed to decouple the few that pulled the strings of members of Congress from the $$$ that made up the strings.
He was wrong and he has admitted it.
After going to war and losing a battle, are we not allowed to regroup, rethink our strategy and go on to win the war?
Is Fred Thompson allowed to rethink how to uproot corruption in DC? He is afterall a longtime corruption fighter. In fact most of his pollitical career has centered on fighting corruption.
He has rethought his strategy to replace the CFR strategy. Did you know that? He is now for full internet disclosure with strong enforcement of disclosure.
He wants the American people to know who is pulling the strings of Congress.
He has the well-being of the American people in his heart and mind. Why would any American patriot think something is wrong with Fred Thompson’s intentions?
>Does anyone know what F.Thompson thought was more important?<
Since Fred Dalton Thompson was a heavy supporter of McCain-Feingold, what more do you need to know? He only flip flopped on that, as well as his ‘let the states decide on abortion’ stance after he decided to “think” about running for president, due to the Conservative opposition to both.
I have yet to hear FDT answer a question with a direct and concise answer. He is a lawyer through and through, and that’s what lawyers always do. Answer a question with a question!
