Drew Carey to replace Barker on 'Price' [is Right]

NEW YORK - Genial comic Drew Carey was tapped Monday to replace silver-haired legend Bob Barker on the CBS daytime game show "The Price is Right." Carey confirmed the deal during a taping of the "Late Show" with David Letterman.

The selection attracted more attention than usual for a daytime show because of the prospect of replacing Barker, 83. Barker retired after 35 years in the job last month following taping of his 6,586th episode.

The opening attracted widespread interest, including from comic Rosie O'Donnell after she left "The View."

Carey, 49, spent a decade on his own ABC sitcom and also was host of the game show "Whose Line is It Anyway?," a comic improvisational show.

He will also be host of a new CBS prime-time game show, "The Power of 10," that will air first next month. He told The Associated Press that CBS officials first contacted him about "The Price is Right" immediately after he completed a pilot of the other game show this spring.

Isn’t Drew Cary an outspoken Conservative/Libertarian? That ought to piss off Rosie even more..

Yes, and a Marine. Until he had a heart problem last year, he spent a lot of time in Iraq with the troops. He is also they only person who has ever been able to convince Rush to do a guest appearance on a sitcom.

” I expect there to be a gaggle of fat, hairy lesbians protesting outside CBS first thing tomorrow”

That sounds like the CBS staff, why would they protest outside?

Glad its not Rosie, but I don’t see Drew being a great choice here. That being said......I haven’t watched the show since the late 70s, so what do I know?

Drew doesn't feel like he has to change the world or be a bully or a scold or a national nanny, but he's made no secret about being a libertarian. He did an interview with Reason magazine. Maybe that's a good thing about libertarians: they can get their message out well enough without making nuisances of themselves.

And, if I remember correctly, he served our country honorably in the U.S.M.C.

Hands down a much better choice than Rosie O'Dimbulb.

He’s also a Marine. I don’t say former because I’ve been told once a Marine always a Marine.

IMO, no one can replace Bob Barker and the Price Is Right just isn’t gonna be the same without him.

I suppose Drew will have to work on his sexual harassment techniques to be able to fully replace Bob.

Not the only. Rush was on Hearts Afire also.

I might start watching again if Drew is on.

WRONG, ALL WRONG !

Barker was the best,

only John O’ Hurley would have come close.

That may be, but the show smacks of give-away Liberalism.

So, Rosie misunderstood; The Price Is Right said, "Let's get someone that looks like Rosie."

I will not post it, but Drew ripped into Bin Laden during the Hefner Roast on Comedy Central. He also did a comedy tour for our troops in Iraq.

I hope you’re lucky, ‘cause you sure aren’t a good judge of comedic talent.

Drew's public record of political donations shows only three $1,000 checks to Republican George Voinovich. He's a Libertarian US Marine who entertains the troops, admires Rush Limbaugh, and treated his staff great. While liberal movie and TV stars weep for the masses while treating everyone around them like dirt, everyone loved working on Drew's sitcom. He treated everyone equally and gave out lavish gifts, including flying his entire crew and their families to Disney World at his expense one year. I once read an interview in which he talked about buying his parents' old house in Cleveland and said his goal was to make as much money as possible in Hollywood and then get the hell out because he couldn't stand it.

Also, there is a terrific anti-Clinton rant in his book, "Dirty Jokes and Beer," in which he rages at those hypocritical money-sucking yuppies the Clintons for saying that successful people like him had to pay higher taxes to atone for the "party" they had in the '80s, when he'd spent the '80s living in his car while they were ripping off people in shady real estate deals. And for their insistance that poor kids go to rotten public schools while their kid gets the best private schools. It gets angrier from there. I just loved it.

Speaking of “Price is Right”, is it true that Bob Barker was spotted in Iowa recently?
