Of course you can always give A blood to persons with blood group A, B blood to a person with blood group B and so on. But in some cases you can receive blood with another type of blood group, or donate blood to a person with another kind of blood group.

If I remember correctly, O negative is the universal donor and AB positive is the universal recepient.
The issue is indeed blood vs. plasma per earlier postings. The info you’ve copied is for blood only. The plasma is the fluid and AB plasma can be given to almost anyone, again per earlier postings and the Red Cross websites I checked. Never knew that or I’d have been doing plasma donations a long time ago.
