Agreed. All too often, those who torture animals are given a slap on the wrist. It’s time we sent a serious message that senseless acts of sadistic cruelty will no longer be tolerated, even if the victim is “just an animal.” Their torturers are even lower forms of life, not fit to live in a free society. SICK.
It’s VERY rare for girls/women to do something like this. These girls need to be locked up for a very long time, and kept under close scrutiny for the rest of their lives. Sterilizing them now would be a good idea. There’s no way a child would ever be safe with them.
It looks pretty bright and alert in the picture. Most likely it will heal up fine and live a long happy life in a loving home. Veterinary medicine is just as advanced as human medicine, so I’m sure it’s been getting plenty of painkillers.
If anyone in this story is “just an animal”, it’s the girls. They are way beyond salvaging as members of civilized society. And yet much more money and effort will be expended on them than on the kitten. Guaranteed that they’ll do little or no lock-up time, and be back on the streets popping out babies in no time. Then we’ll start getting the bills for their welfare checks, subsidized housing, free medical care for them and their kids, and then the foster care system and a zillion other services for their kids (almost certainly including prison), who will be left with them until badly damaged.
Executing people who do things like this would spare many innocent people from being tortured and killed. That’s the best argument for your position. Unfortunately, our screwed up society won’t even sterilize these girls. God help their babies.
Indeed. And you can be sure that the vet nurse who is taking Adam and his IV pump home with her every night, and staying up all night monitoring him, is not actually charging for this service. She’s donating thousands of dollars worth of services too. The group that’s taking up a collection will get enough to pay the vet hospital’s out of pocket costs, and probably some more, but not likely anywhere near what the normal tab for this much veterinary treatment would cost.

It does look cute in the picture, but post 14 describes its injuries and what it will take to repair them. And it sounds like it still may not survive.
My understanding of burns is that burn pain is beyond the reach of pain medications even for humans. This was posted on a thread quite recently and I’m trying to recall which one it was.
That's a good point.
One reason it shouldn't be tolerated is that as the *higher* life form, one with a conscience and morals, we should be protecting those weaker than us. A female's natural tendency is to nurture and protect and for these girls to engage in that kind of barbarity reveals a sadistic cruelty that makes them a danger to EVERYONE around them. They have no conscience or empathy. It's a bad thing for someone capable of bearing children.

But the liklihood you would do it to others is much higher than those who did not engage in that type of activity when they were young.
