D&C “Storychat” invaded by Freepers

Unfortunately for Rochester, many of the D&C storychats are being dominated by extreme-right zealots. It’s gotten so bad on a couple of articles that it’s starting to sound like the fever swamps of RochesterWatch.com…

Folks, I've posted before about my experiences in discussions with leftists on the Rochester, NY, Democrat and Chronicle, internet discussion Forum. An activist leftist blog named rochesterturning.com has declared war on all of us conservatives who post on the Forum and they are painting us as racist, knuckle-draggers and ready to gang up on those of us who are currently posting.

Fellow Freepers, especially those who live in the Rochester, NY, Western NY and anywhere else, please join us in keeping the table level on the Forum. Believe me, it will be an eye-opener for you!

Here's how you do it. Go to the main Democrat and Chronicle Forum page:

Click on “Register” at the top of the page,

Then, click on "I Agree to these terms and am over or exactly 13 years of age"

Then pick a username, enter your email address and password

Seriously though, my hometown paper has the same kind of forum for all the locals. It brings out some of the most stupid comments you have ever heard. It’s the local idiots who probably don’t have a job and evenetually resort to name calling. I prefer much larger forums like FR. At least people know the English language and have probably graduated high school.

Why waste your time?

It's my hometown newspaper and the Forum needs to be balanced. I'm not looking to convert liberals, however; theirs should not be the only voices heard.

The good/bad thing about FR is that it is conservative-only. We are not engaging with others, convincing others, or getting part of the wider conversation on here.

If nothing else, getting some conservatives to respond to lefties would ruin their attempt to dominate the debate and expose their weak point of view.
I was on a yahoo forum that was completed Bush-bashing, and just as one poster I could hold my own ... then again, I have no idea if anyone reads it or cares.

There's some of that going on, but we do have quite a few people who post, both liberal and conservative, who are quite intelligent and astute debaters.

Come and join us, fellow Freepers! I believe I'm the only Freeper who posts there, contrary to what the rochesterturning.com folks believe. You should really give them reason to believe there's more of us! :-)

Good luck to you! I hope you do well with the hometown libs. I enjoy being on the forums, but I don’t enjoy arguing. I guess debating was never a strong skill for me.

Thanks caver! I've been doing the D&C Forum for nine months. I take breaks on occasion because I don't enjoy arguing either and am not the best in debating, but I've gotten better at it because of the practice I get in the Forum. Free Republic is my home, but conservative voices need to be heard in the local venues too.
