Band singer shot and killed at restaurant

CHEYENNE, Wyo. - A woman singing with a band at a local restaurant was shot and killed early Saturday, and police were looking for her estranged husband _ a member of the state Army guard and who police believe has sniper skills.

Police Capt. Jeff Schulz said Robin Munis, 40, of Cheyenne was shot in the head with one gunshot that came from outside the restaurant where she was performing.

Schulz identified David Munis, 36, of Cheyenne, as a suspect.

Police said they were looking for his 1999 black Dodge pickup with Wyoming registration NG-975.

The couple had recently separated, and the victim had complained about receiving harassing telephone calls from her husband, Schulz said.

In addition, he said, "he has sniper training from the military."

David Munis is a second lieutenant in the Wyoming Army National Guard, who is attached to the guard's training camp, according to guard spokeswoman Deidre Forster.

His main job is to promote the camp's training facilities to civilian and other military units, Forster said.

She said she didn't know whether Munis had received special sniper training.

Schulz said investigators believe a rifle was used in the shooting, but no weapon was found and no one saw the shooter.

Ballistics tests will be done to determine the weapon and from where the shot came from, he said.

Police were notified about the shooting about 12:10 a.m. Saturday. No one else in the restaurant was hurt, Schulz said.

This guy is just plain STUPID. He needs to have a long drop with a short rope. My money says he used his own firearm and will not have an alibi and have the gun on his person when caught. Now the citizens of Wyoming will have to pay to keep him alive for 10+ years waiting for appeals to work out.

Go ahead and kill this thread after you correct the spelling in the title of the original.

The snafu title of the earlier post is exactly
how it appears in the CBS headline.

Does FR want to be in the business of
covering up the incompetence of Legacy Media?

Probably not, but it sure makes it easier for the rest of us who have more than a 3rd grade education and know how to spell when we preform a search.

The underlying problem here is weak search on FR,
which frankly needs to be upgraded to full-text.

Even with Legacy Media Misspelling Override enabled,
you may not find priors. When I went looking for the
prior article, I used some of the words I recalled
from the art title, like “singer”. “singer” was in it.
“singer” did NOT find it.

No comment :-)

With the $$$$ we all contribute it would seem like an upgrade or two would not be too much to ask.

I hope and trust that the citizens of WY will work out a quicker way to proceed with justices. There is no shortage of expert riflemen and women in that state.

What was she singing?

“Hit me with your best shot” or “Love is a battlefield”?

I think you will find that Munis just saved the good taxpayers of Wyoming the cost of imprisonment and a trial. Watch for the news shortly.

Did they catch him?

I grew up in Wheatland and know the Laramie Range where he is hiding pretty well. Lots of canyons. He could hunker down and stay out of sight for a long time. If he packed in some food, he can live of antelope, deer, and the occasional raid on a ranch house garden for a long time. Around the middle of November it will get a little too chilly and he will have to do something.

In a way.

Yep, they caught him, but he had a “self inflicted” gunshot wound in his chest when they did. Saved the good taxpayers of Wyoming a sizable sum.

I thought he might go “Jeremiah Johnson,” but he punked out. At least this way, no lawman will have to risk getting sniped pursuing him.
