If not arrested...they’ll at least get reported to DSS and have to deal with a gazillion home visits and be ordered to anger management classes!
We know a couple whose child went to school and said she hadn’t eaten that morning (she failed to mention she refused to eat what her mother had given her).
The parents got reported and had to deal with DSS going through their fridge and pantry to make sure they fed their kids.
